It is with great sadness that FIAF learned of the passing of Jean-Paul Gorce,successively administrator, artistic director, curator and then advisor to the Cinémathèque, who died on 8 February at the age of 77.

Save the Date: A new CDC Workshop on "Film-Related Materials in Archives - From Acquisition to Access" will take place on 20-21 June 2025 in Bologna (MAMbo at the Cineteca di Bologna). Registrations will open on 1 April 2025.

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing on 2 October 2024 of Robert Rosen, the retired founding Director of the UCLA Film & Television Archive and a much-respected figure of the FIAF network from the 1970s to the 2010s.

Pierre Jutras, curator and programmer at the Cinémathèque québécoise for 33 years, passed away on 22 June. Marcel Jean, the current directeur of the Cinémathèque québécoise, asked us to share this short tribute.

The annual ACE workshop will take place on Tuesday 27 June, 13:30-17:00 at the MAMbo – Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna. The FIAF Commissions have been developing a workshop series that will begin in the autumn of 2022. They will be covering a wide range of topics discussed in FIAF. They are planned as online events and will be conducted in English. The first four workshops have been announced.

The Third Edition of the ACE's A Season of Classic Films Kicks Off with Face to Face (Greece, 1966) and Blue 9 (Yugoslavia, 1950) on 9 and 10 June. Both online screenings offer worldwide access with English subtitles.

FIAF announces various events and publications to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Periodicals Indexing Project (P.I.P.) throughout 2022.

ArteKino Classics kicked off on 29 March 2022. It consists of a three-month-long highlight, followed by a monthly offering from June 2022. The films will be accessible Europe-wide with subtitles in six languages on arte.tv. The twenty recently restored films from almost as many countries were selected in close consultation with the Association des Cinémathèques Européennes (ACE).

The Tbilisi International Archival Film Festival, organized by the National Archives of Georgia, will be held for the first time from 5-9 October 2022. The theme of festival is "The First Archival Films", and the call for film submissions is open until 1 July.
