Film Archives in Africa
The Film Archives in Africa Project (2010-2015) was a joint project between the Goethe Institute Südafrika and FIAF. The general aims of the project, which was funded by a 64,000€ grant from the Goethe Institute Südafrika, were first to obtain clearer information about the present situation of archiving audio-visual heritage in the sub-Saharan part of Africa, and then to answer training needs of archivists in archives with audio-visual collections, and offer technical equipment where it was needed. A list of the project’s practical achievements can be found below. However, FIAF recognizes that the work begun by this project should be continued, and that the Federation could play a vital role in its future.
The Project's final report, written by Eva Orbanz, can be found HERE.
