Yale Film Archive's FIAF Status Upgraded

At its meeting on 20 April in Mexico City, the 2023 FIAF General Assembly decided by an overwhelming majority vote to upgrade the affiliation status of the Yale Film Archive from Associate to Member. The Yale Film Archive, which had joined FIAF in 2014, applied for this upgrade in 2022, following its great development in the last few years. The application was fully supported by the Executive Committee, which recommended its ratification to the General Assembly at its meeting in Glasgow in November 2022.

The Yale Film Archive has in its collection more than 7,000 35mm and 16mm titles—including Hollywood features, experimental shorts, documentaries, and Bollywood musicals—spanning more than 120 years of cinema history. The Yale Film Archive's Managing Archivist Brian Meacham was a member of the FIAF Executive Committee from 2015 to 2023.

As of 20 April 2023, FIAF has 94 active Members and 79 active Associates. One Member and one Associate are currently suspended.
