Jorg studied electrical engineering at the University of Bremen with the focus on digital signal processing and psychoacoustics.
For more than 20 years, Jorg has been helping audiovisual archives innovate in an efficient and standards-compliant way.
As a technology expert, Jorg is deeply involved in various archive communities. Jorg is a professional member in SMPTE standardization groups; he also works for the German standardization body DIN, where he is co-editor of the recently published "DIN SPEC 15587 - Recommendations for Digitization of Cinematographic Film".
Within the International Association of Sound and Audiovisual Archives (IASA) Jorg is a long-standing member of the Technical Committee. At FIAT/IFTA he is an active member of the Committee on Conservation and Migration. Jorg has also long worked within the EBU's technical communities.
Within the European Committee for Standardization (CEN), Jorg is a technical expert in the project team of Technical Committee 457. Within this group, Jorg is co-developing a new standard for digital preservation of cinematographic works.
As a personal supporter of the FIAF, Jorg wants to raise awareness among film archivists of the importance of quality-controlled methods in the transformation process from analogue to digital.
