Film/AV Collections of FIAF Affiliates Online
This list features links to free online streaming services used by FIAF affiliates to provide convenient access to their audiovisual collections. Many of the collections featured have been carefully selected and contextualised (e.g. by providing extensive curatorial notes or including the films alongside other film-related documents and media). In some cases, optional English subtitles are available for films in other languages. In the spirit of providing access to moving image content with the least amount of barriers, pay-per-view or subscription S/VOD services featuring films from FIAF affiliates’ collections are as a rule not included in this resource. Additionally, the FIAF Programming Game offers an opportunity for users to engage with this resource in a more interactive way by submitting and sharing their own curated programmes drawn from the rich selection of films available through the links provided below. Click HERE to participate.
While online streaming serves as an important tool for access to moving images, PACC considers this service a supplement to - rather than a substitute for - the traditional programming activities of FIAF affiliates. Archives seek to achieve the closest possible approximation to the original viewing experience, and wherever possible, we encourage users to visit their local FIAF Members’ and Associates’ on-site screening venues for the authentic cinema-going experience that cannot be replicated in the virtual domain.
