Film/AV Collection Catalogues and Databases
Access to archival holdings is a core part of the mission of FIAF. This list features links to catalogues and databases of film/AV collections from a variety of institutions and entities, including both FIAF affiliates and non-affiliates. The list provided here follows a loose and inclusive approach with the aim of serving as wide a community base as possible - from archival researchers (e.g. curators searching for elements for restoration projects) to cinema and festival programmers and other potential user groups (e.g. academic scholars, students, etc
Links may feature limitations or enhancements, such as:
- Institution-specific hints and tips for searching and navigating online databases
- Collaborative efforts between both FIAF and non-FIAF organizations under pan-institutional projects and initiatives
- Resources may only be available in the language(s) of their respective countries of origin, which may not correspond to the three official FIAF languages.
- Resources may include information regarding the respective institution’s non-film holdings such as photographic and paper documents, posters and technical objects, etc.
Users are kindly advised that links to catalogues and databases dedicated to institutional library holdings (books and periodicals) are generally not included here as such holdings tend to be more homogenous and can be more widely and easily accessed online.
