Video messages celebrating the Cinemateca Brasileira
The Cinemateca Brasileira, one of FIAF's oldest affiliates, is in a very difficult situation - its entire staff was dismissed a few weeks ago, and the future of the institution is under serious threat. To show them our support, we have asked colleagues in the FIAF community around the world to record a short video message celebrating the Cinemateca and its staff. These videos will be screened throughout the São Paulo International Film Festival (22 October - 4 November). Brazilian filmmaker Walter Salles, a strong advocate of the Cinemateca's cause, will be presented with the 2020 FIAF Award trophy on the closing night of the São Paulo International Film Festival on 4 November. Please find below the messages that have been received. All those not delivered in Portuguese are subtitled in that language for the benefit of the São Paulo International Film Festival audiences.
